Green as grass, growth and money

If you’re like me, you’ve been rejoicing in the signs of new life: grass growing, leaves unfurling and plants budding. The world is awash in the greens of spring. This time of year delights our eyes and eases the gloom brought by the winter’s grey.  When that joie de vivre adds a bounce to my step, it’s as if the color green is pulsing through my blood and rising like sap inside my soul. ​

Each time I smile at the signs of spring, I express my gratitude for the bounty of nature spreading out in the greening of the earth. As the wind warms, I’m more sociable, chatting with friends in the parking lot, no longer in a hurry to scramble into my car. Laughter floats into the house through open windows that invite me to shout a greeting to passing neighbors. The color of spring brings not only a million shades of green, the very air smells of growth and the wind rubs against me as if painting my now-bare arms in its lovely color. Now is when I not only see green, I can smell and taste the green of spring in the air, even feel it on the wind and hear it in the sounds of life returning to the yard.

Just this week it’s as if the earth reminded me of life’s limitless bounty and when I embrace that energy, seeing, feeling, smelling the signs of spring, I can use my senses to bring that potential into any area of my life.

Green, Green Money

Try this: close your eyes, take a slow deep breath, and envision some area of your life bursting with the same power and smell as the leaves on the trees. Join me as I practice seeing that new life bring prosperity into my life. After all, money is also green! So use each delightful flash of new grass to show the spreading power of your wealth. Let yourself imagine that money does grow on trees and that this spring growth is bursting forth for your own prosperity. In the fresh smell after a spring rain, there is the scent of hope that you can use to envision the new prosperity waiting for you. Imagine that breeze blowing new opportunities into your life. Let the promise floating on the wind fill you with the knowledge that your own wealth is already building. 

After you picture your financial world budding like the very earth surrounding you, think of the many gifts you already have. Start with the gratitude you feel for the warmer days and let that carry you into as many “Thank you’s” as you can create. Each time you become aware of your blessings, you help them to multiply. The more grateful you are, the more you have to be grateful for. Even being thankful for the warmer weather helps increase the gifts coming your way. So celebrate all the signs of new life that will soon be seen in your life. 

Celebrate also the success and joy you see in your community. Know that the breeze is plentiful and can be enjoyed by everyone. In the same way, each success increases the wealth that will circulate in your community. When your neighbors have more money, they’re likely to spend it, thus spreading it around where you live.

The Darker Side to Green: Jealousy

There is also a darker side to green, jealousy. The way to avoid jealousy is with gratitude and communal celebration. Don’t allow the green-eyed monster to steal your joy by convincing you there isn’t enough to go around. Return to gratitude for what you have when you feel tempted by comparison. You can manifest more of whatever you believe. So believe you have enough, focus on the joys in your life and they will grow. Say something encouraging to others and you’ll grow your own joy along with the possibility of growing their happiness as well.
