Friday night I slept sitting up - fully clothed, hair done, makeup still on - just so I could get an extra hour of sleep in between the Bad Ass Ladies Supper Club and a class I wanted to attend the next morning. In the end, I got 30 minutes of extra sleep and used the other half hour to sweep my floors... because that’s how we roll as women.
As awesome as it is seeing your vision come to life and being your own #LadyBoss, starting a small business has introduced me to a new level of being overwhelmed, tired and scared.
I am lucky that I have an amazing partner in Andrea to share the heavy lift of getting the SheHive off the ground. We are both very conscious of burnout and consistently remind each other to go to yoga, or to meditate, or to sleep, or to connect with our families. It’s why I left town for a long weekend just days before our launch and it’s why Andrea is forbidden from stepping foot inside the SheHive right now.
Our emotional, spiritual and physical health is - and will always be - a cornerstone of the the success of the SheHive. This dream doesn’t continue if we can’t think straight, or keep our eyes open, or call upon the hope and joy that compelled us to start it all in the first place. Of course, we don’t always get it right - we neglect ourselves at times, we overcommit, and sometimes we end up sleeping upright in a recliner for a five hour “nap” - but we continue to strive for improvement.
We know that there are a ton of you out there in the same boat (and that many of you are rowing that boat all alone)... you’re tired, overwhelmed, scared and just about *this close* to being so burnt out that something - the job, the business, the marriage, the house, your health - is about to go down is a giant ball of flames.
We are begging you to gift yourself a few hours over the next few weeks so that you can come visit us at the SheHive and take care of yourself. And not just because we want your business (we do), but because we’ve been there.
